I used to stack takes until the song disappeared under good intentions.

Now I chase a take that breathes—even if it’s imperfect—before I start “fixing” life out of it. I listen on cheap speakers and decent headphones because real people don’t live inside a $3,000 monitor fantasy.

Louder isn’t truer. Closer mic placement often beats another plugin. And if the lyric doesn’t land acoustic, no mix saves it.
